    Feeder Pen Question

I’ve never used a feeder pen around any of my feeders before but am thinking of trying at least one on one of my feeders and see how it works out. I did a search on here about them and many said to make them round instead of square but never explained why? So what is the advantage of that?
Also the height seemed to vary a lot so what’s a good height? I was thinking maybe 36”? I hunt in East Texas if anyone asks.
    Thanks

    Hog Panel
    10 panel min
    circle is bigger

I've found circle to be better against cows as well. Buddy and Dad put square pens up and cattle pushed em right over to get in. I have mine with 13 panels round built and not 1 cow attempted to get in.

If you're keeping pigs out you'll need a T-Post in the middle of each panel to keep them from pushing on them

Round panel pens are sturdier than square ones.

Here is how I build mine
          Round
          12 or more hog panels
          Overlap two squares
Connect panels with stainless zip ties and stand up the circle
Then drive the t posts at overlap and in middle of each panel

Here are the zip ties and tool I use. Thousand times better than twisting wire

Lol, deer don’t care if it is round or square or even triangle. And if there is corn inside it there will be deer inside inside of it even it it’s only 10x10

Bigger feed pens the better IMO

Round is way to go. Younger bucks can trapped and get gored in a corner. With round they can get away from mature bucks.

Round pen doesn’t require any “corner posts.” The stainless zip ties mentioned are priceless! Run bare wire around the bottom to keep the pigs from pushing the panels around

You sure have a lot of opinions for someone who doesn’t believe in feeding.

Round, and as big as you can afford and it absolutely makes a huge different in the amount of deer that will come in to it.
36” isn’t very high. Will keep some hogs out but goats and cows are cruising over that with ease.

Was told something similar from our wildlife biologist. Said to go round as it was easier on deer to enter/exit.
