This hunt actually started a couple months back. My 9yr daughter was looking through some covert pics and said "dad, is this a bear?!" She jokingly said that because it reminded her of the mythical bear creature from the movie Brave....named Mor'du. The big hog now had a name...pics of it were scarce and mostly at night then one day she says "dad, Mor'du is a girl!" lol
From there the name changed to Mor'dette. With soccer season underway, it was tough to breakaway for a hunt, but once school was out it was on! Pics of Mor'dette were now more frequent and in daylight hours. During a morning hunt on 5/29 Mor'dette made an appearance. Gabby took a shot and the hogs ran. I was filming but didn't notice it move out of camera view so we were unsure if it was a hit. We looked for blood with no luck. While searching in the woods, Gabby found a nice buck skull so we didn't come home empty handed lol. We filled feeders and decided to head home to hunt another day.
A couple of days later, guess who showed up to the feeder! Its 6/5 morning hunt, we sneak into the blind around 6am. Feeder throws at 6:30 and within minutes hogs are coming out of the forest. Last to show is Mor'dette. Gabby gets ready, camera is rolling...BOOM! Hog drops to the ground, immediately gets up and starts running into the woods. We could tell it was a good hit. Gave it plenty of time before starting the track. There was good blood starting from the feeder so hopes were high we would find it. A short 30 yards later, we found her trophy hog pilled up under the brush! Proud of this kiddo. Didn't give up. This was the first kill on our property and to make it even better, grandpa was there to share in the fun. She then drove around on the zero-turn for a while which was a big help.
Thanks for reading amigos.
