    Redneck engineering solutions needed

Well my bad eyesight finally caught up to me. I use a lot of Klein screwdrivers and other Klein tools.

One of my favorite tools is the Klein stubby screwdriver. It is very useful for working in tight places like I was doing this evening while putting on cabinet knobs and handles.

At one point my old arse hands got tired so I switched to the Klein ratcheting screwdriver. I accidentally stuck a stubby bit into the ratcheting screwdriver but it is not compatible. Too small.

Now that bit is stuck and there's not enough of it to grab to pull out. I've tried paper clip vises, toothpick wedges, a strong magnet, a little WD-40 and a rubber mallet and all kinds of weird things involving zip ties and throwing chicken bones at a shiner Bock statue.

So far that thing is wedged in there. This puts two of my favorite tools out of commission. Any solutions or ideas? I don't have any fancy tools. I've tried all different kinds of needle nose and wire strippers and duct tape on a small drill bit and various things. I'm out of ideas.

I can't figure out how to disassemble the ratcheting screwdriver without breaking it or I would do that and then knock the bit out from the back side.

A few crappy pics from my six-year-old phone.

    bench vise should git'r done

edit: just noticed the bit was buried deep into hole. Thought it was sticking out with enough of the bit to use the vise.
Let me do some more thinking

That's what frustrating. It's not very deep. If you run your finger cross the top of the drive or you can barely feel the tip of the bit.

Find a long screw that matches the size of the bit and put a dab of JB Weld in the cross slot and stick it to the bit. Let it harden and pull it out.

That should work. I'll give it a try in the morning

A thin tipped needle nose should grab it.

I'm a long way from town and the needle nose I have aren't working. I found some kind of epoxy that I had. It's not JB weld. Unfortunately most of the Phillips head screws that I have, the head is too big and won't fit into the driver. I did find a small sheet metal screw that seems to fit in there. I've got it setting up and drying now with the epoxy. Got some red thread locker that I might try as well if that don't work

Once you get ready to pull it out, you might try gently heating the outside tube to get it to expand slightly and reduce the friction.

I was gonna suggest this, but don’t do it and the JB Weld together. Try one then the other if you have a torch to heat it with.

I wonder if a bullet puller would work?

If the heat or screw don't work. Maybe drill a hole in something. Drill the hole slightly smaller than the bit, shove or hammer driver in hole, add more glue and pull

As a last resort see if someone will lend you a henway

If the epoxy doesnt work, try soldering to it. Not sure if solder will adhere to that bit or not, but its worth a try.
