    Making MRE’s

    Never done it before but have been using these Mylar bags for other stuff. After fill and sealing bags you have to put in boiling water for 30-40 min .
    Should last for years. Right now these are about 2.50 a meal

    Are you cooking the noodles forth, then combining pasta and sauce and sealing? Not sure I’d trust that for “years”

      I cook the meal, dehydrate then portion out the meals in the Mylar bags, seal. My husband and son take these to Colorado. Also put an oxygen absorber in each bag.

        Cooking pasta mixing in bag sealing then boil in water to kill any possible contamination…..just like the military meals. I am going to try a bag in a month, two months and 6 months. After that if they ain’t bad then they should be good for years

            C Rations may be easier. Throw a can of ten year old pork patties, can of fruit, and a few squares of toilet paper, tiny box of chiclets gum, and a piece of bitter fudge in a tiny cardboard box and you have it. When you take a concrete dump once a week you know you have it right

              I live and grew up next to Ft. Hood. We would find cases of those Nam and Korea era rations. We would open and eat a lot of them

                  Yeah, I always watch his stuff. Unfortunately I still have not convinced my wife we need a freeze dryer

                      Good luck fellas. I eat MRE’s several times per week. The BDU pocket version which is about $4.30 and the Full sized for $10 purchased at the commissary on bases. They seem expensive but I trust them more. I’m only gonna buy the smalls from now on because they are enough with less waste.

                              I did a little more research and it turns out that with thicker bags you can put them in a pressure cooker just like canning jars. I’ll try that next week. This is all an experiment at this point
