    Upgrade Weed Eater Head?

I have a Kobalt 80v electric string trimmer. It's great, except that I can't find any weedeater string that is even remotely durable. I get sick of having to stop and restring the dang thing several times before I finish my yard.

What's the best replacement head that has some type of more permanent and durable cutters attached to it?

I replaced a ryobi with the hard blades for my girlfriends mom. Have not used it yet, but she sure does like.

Orange Echo string. Not the black diamond the old Orange stuff the have with multiple edges. About the best there is when i was doing yards. If The echo ratcheting rapid load head will screw on there that's what i would be using.

Echo has the weedeater figured out compared to all others.

The hard plastic blades work well in open areas, however they can do some damage trimming around trees and they get chewed up trimming along curbs, retaining walls, etc. I just use the thickest line that will fit in my head.

Shane, I'm only about 3 weeks or so into my first "lektrik" string trimmer... Posted a thread askin' bout them a few weeks back and opinions on the new DeWalt 20volt... Based on a few here, I got one with their upgraded head... So far it seems to really be a good one... One of the early things I learned about it was that the DeWalt string that came on it is tough as nails! Mostly my wife uses it... She's not too careful about it around the slab and cyclone fence so I bought 3 large spools of that DeWalt string of the proper size figuring I'd have to be refilling the spool pretty regular.... Well she's done the edging on the whole place (a little over 4 acres of yard) and still going strong on the original spool from when we got the thing!! One caution from experience of the folks who invented the WeedEater, stick with the size string that the lektrik units are designed to use... going bigger puts excess load on the little motor and causes excess heat as it requires more horsepower to run the heavier, larger string causing premature failure of the motor... I'd stay with the diameter of line recommended and try to find the best within that category...

This using the thickest string and winding it so you have 4 strings cutting instead of two.
