    What tree is this?

I’ve heard some people call it a Senna(sp?)bean tree?

My initial thought was Mimosa until I saw the thorns. EEK!

Honey locust. I have seen thorns up to 6 inches long on those. Poison it or girdle it.. Sennabean is more of a weed, although they do get pretty big. They don't have thorns, but the leaves do look similar.

Honey locust. It's a legume and actually a pretty fair deer food, but can be invasive. And a problem obviously if next to a road. Typically grows in low, wet areas, but not exclusively. There is a thornless plant with a similar leaf structure (also a legume) called senna-bean (or rattle-bush), but this isn't it.

I've seen shrike birds eating a grasshopper impaled on the thorns many times. Fannin county must be the mother lode of Honey locust. Every farmer hates them for what they do.
