Texas hunting and fishing legend Murry Burnham

My cousin told me the Austin American Statesman published an article on May 29, 2022 about the passing of 93 year old Murray Burnham.

Many on TBH have met Mr. Burnham over the years, or seen his videos, such as rattling bucks in South Texas. I invited him to give a program at the Kingsland Lions Club which he agreed to do in return for my purchase of his 1983 book Murray Burnham's Hunting Secrets which sits on my bookshelf.

I still have a cedar box turkey call I bought in the old Marble Falls store back when the whole city closed down by 8 pm. We will not see a man like him again. He is missed, but he left a legacy for all who love the outdoors.

Oh man, sorry to hear about this!! I met him years ago and got to know him a bit. He was very close friends with the old ranch foreman on the Rancho Rio Grande, Bill Moody's ranch. He and Murray used to varmint hunt that ranch a lot. We had a pasture leased from Mr. Moody and his foreman, Charlie Helms would bring Mr. Burnham to camp to "talk about hangin' tails"... I could sit and listen to them for hours!! Men like these were just something special! Those who got to know them and spend time with them were blessed indeed!
May God rest his (their) soul.

I remember that store well. Rattlesnakes in the window.

Hunted turkeys with him a few times back in the 80’s. Great guy that was fortunate to live a full life. RIP.

He killed one of the prettiest mule deer I have seen.

He and his brother are legends.

Was fortunate to visit their store in Marble Falls once or twice back in the day.

Here's the article the OP mentioned:
