    HELP Polaris Ranger ???

Gear Shift is stuck in reverse. Never have had an issue. Brought it home from the lease at the end of last season and it has been parked and covered. Went out to start it to give it a quick drive, and the shifter will not budge. Drove it a couple circles in reverse just to run it and see if the shifter would free up. No luck. Any ideas on what might have happened?

I would start by unhooking the shift cable on the transmission and see if you can change gears by moving the shift lever on the transmission.

If the cable is not covered in plastic try some silicon spray on it. Sorry not much help.

This. If it still won't shift you have ruled out the cable and need to take the cover off the shifting mechanism. Moisture can get in and rust/bind things up. This happened to mine and I was able to clean it all up, pack in grease, and fix it. YouTube the exact process.

Thanks guys. I found a local guy that used to work as a polaris mechanic that says he's 99% sure what is going on and he can fix it for less than $100. It's worth that to me not to screw something up. LOL
