Get on Google earth and see if any of your neighbors have stock tanks. If your place is all that caliche and rock a tank may not be an option. You have to have soil that holds water and you don't always get to pick where that is.

Neighbor to the west of me has a pond and fish that was filled by rain and is maintained by the well.

I would clear as little as possible. Maybe one 4-way not far from camp where I’d keep feed out year round. I’d like to have option of leaving rest of property “quiet” during hunting season.I wouldn’t worry about a food plot or pond. That country is dry and it’s gonna be a struggle to have success with any project requiring much water. Maintaining the level of your pond with ground water could cause problems if excessive amounts are required. Can also cause hard feelings with your neighbors, if the shared water supply is depleted. I’d rather have water piped across property to wildlife drinkers (with shade) that are strategically placed near my feed pens.

Stop the senderos before the fences or 45 degree angle them about 50 yds from the fenceline. Congrats on your purchase.
