Best all-around cowboy villain? Bruce Dern, hands down.
Richard Boone played a pretty good villain too.

I took all of Bruce’s pictures off my wall for what he did to Mr. Anderson. It was a dirty, low-down thing to do.

      Favorite line from The Cowboys:

[Lord] forgive me for the men I have killed
And for those I am about to…

He did. I’d forgotten about him.

                Maybe “favorite” is a stretch.

I do like Dean Martin and almost mentioned him, but he’s not really one of my favorite cowboy actors. Same with Audie Murphy.

For villain roles it’s hard to beat
                  Bruce Dern
                  Richard Boone
                  Lee Van Cleef

When my kids were little, they’d climb into bed with their daddy on Saturday mornings and watch The Rifleman, just like my husband used to do with his dad when he was a little boy.

                    I miss those days.

Got up Saturday morning, grabbed a bowl of cereal and it was on! Rifleman. Wagon Train, Iron Horse, Lone Ranger, Wanted Dead Or Alive and on and on. Didn't leave the house until noon.

Yep, me too... stopped watching when "20-mule team's" Death Valley Days came on... Never did like that show...
For me it was a toss-up between "Westerns" and the "Tarzan" or other "jungle shows"...
                            Those were the days...

I thought Death Valley Days came on Sunday night after Bonanza.
