Congrats on your son taking the step. My son also decided to follow in my footsteps. I retired after 27 years so he has seen it from a kids standpoint. It did not take long for him to realize what I meant when I said "You can't make this stuff up". He was first unit to a homicide while in his first few weeks of training. It is not like it used to be. Good luck to your son, he will change a little, we all have.

My son is an LEO - he wanted to do it from the time he was in junior high - He has now been an LEO for over 15 years - he is dedicated and he loves what he does.

When he first started as an LEO his Mom and I were worried to death that he would get hurt. I would keep my phone by my bed in case something happened. After about a year all of that fear went away - they are very well trained and you just have to turn it over to the Lord - you will learn to relax and understand that your son was willing to take it on so he could serve - God bless
