    HVAC Question

Currently we use multiple portable humidifiers in the winter and dehumidifiers in the summer to help manage air quality. We just bought a house, and I see there are centralized units that can be either a humidifier or dehumidifier. Is there a unit that can do both or can I install both? I am aware the A/C works as a dehumidifier as well, but we don't always want the cooling associated with removing humidity.

Living in Houston we have been fighting humidity year round. They do make a home unit for the attic. I have 2 large floor models. Last summer we had a week of drizzle. I collect the central ac water in a 5 gallon bucket and dump on plants grass ect. In a 24 hour period I dumped 23 gallons of water from my 2 floor units and the ac. We have them set to turn off at 50%

You can get a system with hot gas reheat to help with humidity control. For an add-on dehumidifier check out the Quest line of dehumidifiers
An Aprilaire bypass style humidifier installed on your air-handler/furnace is the way to go
