    Telescope for a kid

My daughter is turning 5 and told me she wants a telescope so we can look at stars. Looking for a something I can buy on Amazon or something for $100-$200. Any suggestions? Or a brand to look at?

Very happy with my althon argos. Celseteon also makes decent stuff. May want to check out both brands

You may want to consider a celestial binocular and a parallelogram tripod stand. very portable to bring wherever, easy to setup, keeps the target in sight even while adjusting height to accommodate the different folk looking through them.

It’s amazing what can be seen with the binos. Moon craters, Nebulas, Jupiter’s moons and much more.

AWESOME idea for the little one!

I know she wants a telescope, but consider an 80mm spotting scope. Its the viper. I used mine (vortex) last year or the year before when Jupiter and Saturn passed relatively close by. I could see the rings and moons of each planet easily. And it's fantastic for the moon.

Just a multipurpose thought. Good luck!

I bought my daughter a telescope years ago, we found my 60X spotting scope worked better. We got some pretty cool videos and pictures, while looking at the moon. Turns out there were some bats very high up, that were flying in between us and the moon. I swear those bats had to be 500 ft. to 1000 ft. up. Seeing the bats turned out to me more entertaining that looking at the moon.
