I know people that have "seen" bigfoot too, luckily we are free to believe whatever we want.

I just prefer to base my beliefs off facts.

As mentioned lynx have short tails and are shaped like a big bobcat. They are native to the mountains. Probably not a lynx.

If this cat once existed and is said now to be extinct why not just post a pic off google of said extinct cat and say this is what I saw? What is the name of this extinct cat?

Mountain lions in North Texas are very very few.

                  Native cats of Texas:

                  Jaguarundi (South Texas, probably extirpated)
Margay (Not seen in over 100 years, probably never abundant in Texas)
                  Ocelot (South Texas)
Jaguar (they can be black!, but no Jaguars left in Texas)
                  Bobcat
                  Mountain Lion

But of course it could just be an introduced species.

From the location probably a domesticated cat or a mountain lion.

My guess could be a domestic Chausie, or young mountain lion.

Sounds like a Maine Coon to me.

A bobcat is a Lynx. Multiple Lynx’s out there.

Same genus different species than what is commonly referred to as a lynx in the us.

How can he have seen an animal that doesn't exist?

                            Shows people's ignorance
