We have Windstream and it absolutely SUCKS!! Was told by a tech after the 6th time I called em out that we are at the end of their line and we are basically SOL! Talked to a guy down the road and he said they had something that TESLA came out with called star link and said they absolutely love it. We ordered the star link equipment but it might be 18 months until we get it. My question is.....Is there any satellite internet companies out there that doesn't require a long term contract that we could get by with until the star link arrives?

If you do, you might check out hotspots or cell tower internet.
It's not absolutely the best, but it sure beat HughesNet.
I got a T Mobile hot spot as back up to my fiber optic and it gets 250 down load and it's $50.00 a month and my 3 neighbors can use it..

I have an AT&T hotspot and average 18 MBps download. - with a signal booster.
Still better than the Satellite setup I had previous.
I have ordered Starlink and was originally scheduled for early 2022 but that got pushed to late 2022. Whatever that means.

I was getting along 2 years back with 3 down load. Streaming in the evenings etc. Running a small national company I had to do better. Took around 20 months to get here...

I've been using a third party AT&T hotspot service (currently neverthrottled.com) with a Netgear Nighthawk since we moved out to Tres Hijas in February '20, with mostly good results. We've had to change providers a few times (each with a price increase), as AT&T quit allowing service as demand increased post covid. Most of the times the speeds are adequate, but at times it's painfully slow or completely drops for a short time. It seems to be mostly in the evenings, but maybe that's just because we notice it more because that's when we're most likely to be streaming.
I've been checking Starlink availability periodically, and it shows that it's now available for my area. I ordered the equipment and service today. The email said it should ship within two weeks. We'll see.
I'm going to run speedtests while I wait and then do a comparison when the Starlink arrives.
Edit: I've previously had the satellite internet services and they're expensive and essentially unusable.
