Fwiw, my audiologist told me the ones that go in your ear and not behind with the wire going in are for total hearing loss.
The ones behind the ear are allowing ambient noise to enter. The behind the ear portion grabs the sound and pushes it into speaker that sits in your ear.
I’m sure you can buy whichever style you want, but they aren’t Quite doing the same thing.
