My desert bighorn ram killed in the Kofa Wildlife Refuge near Yuma on Dec. 8, 2012.
<p style="text-align: left;">After 40+ years of applying for a desert bighorn tag in AZ, I finally drew one this year. Below is the result. He's not a B&amp;C ram, but he's dead, tagged and at the taxidermist. Given my health situation at 71 yrs. old, I'm quite pleased with the result.</p>
<p>The ram is from Unit 45C on the southern part of the Kofa Wildlife Refuge's Castle Dome Mts. Killed him on the 2nd day we actually hunted and had the pleasure of having good friend Tom Joiner (TJ) along to help and witness my once-in-a-lifetime opportunity</p>
I saw a picture of this sheep a while back and thought it was off private land… so he was the winner of the draw permit this past year?
EDIT* read the article and it was an auction tag and I saw it on WTO’s instagram
Truly an amazing animal and would give my left nut to hunt sheep in TX, congrats to the hunter. Now, if we could just get TPWD on board with whipping out aoudad and putting more bighorns in TX we might be getting somewhere!
The comment by the writer isn’t surprising one bit, read forums on hunting the west. They talk out their rears so much about hunting in Texas cause they saw it on a hunting show
