I don't think they do at all. Set up a pop-up 20 yards from a feeder just backed up to some bushes. Javelin knocked me off right away and then a big sow came in to the corn and never looked my way. Don't let them smell you though.
I think it depends on the pigs. Highly harassed pigs are more likely to not put up with “new” things in the area. Non pressured pigs much more likely to accept new without batting and eye.
I have always found with pigs playing the wind is key
YUP, they can't see that good really, unless you're really close, but they will smell you if the wind is wrong. If you're really up on them and hunting on the ground, they can bust you drawing back, but if you're comfortable backing up a bit, you can get away without the blind, and just hunt the right wind.
A simple tripod, brushed in a little has always worked great, if it's a permanent spot, I hate hunting the ground though, but have killed a bunch on last minute hunts, when I just grabbed my stuff and went.
