Dang things will chase you and they can move very fast

Had an old guy I worked with many years ago that got chased by one. I was laughing so hard at his retelling of the events that I about passed out

Man, you ain`t lying. I have only walked up on one of those things and it was 20 years ago. Never saw a snake move so fast in my life. If rattlesnakes moved that fast, I bet a lot of us would give up hunting. LOL.

When I was hunting rattlesnakes, on a couple of occasions we found coachwhips denned up with the rattlers. They are hard to catch, so dang fast, but once you do, they will wrap all around your arm while you are holding them and they are pretty docile. I've never had one bite at me.

Since nobody has mentioned it yet…it’s a coachwhip. Make decent pet once you get them tamed down a bit. They do like to bite in the beginning.

Coachwhip. The attitude snake.
The will eat small rattlers and every mouse or rat that comes around.
Good snake to have around especially in a pumphouse or if you have vehicles parked outside. If you have a couple of these you won't have your wiring all rat gnawed.
