    Texas Drought

Man, we're dry just across the river of Northern Webb County. With no significant rain in the forecast this growing season, I'm concerned we could have a bust year.

We are pounding the LnE to them... But at this point, I'm not sure if it'll be enough.

Looking at the Texas drought monitor map, things keep getting worse. Lots of reds and orange on the map.... ugh... range conditions are rough!

Some of our best years were drought. Deer leaned on protein and came in to corn well.

        This.^^^

While the herd on avg will probably be down, some absolute hammers get taken during bad droughts. The two biggest bucks to come off that place I had in Refugio were during severe drought times......196 and 188. Chin up Shane, you might be surprised.

We had to wait about an hour last Friday for the fire dept to reopen the CR going into our place just N of Hebbronville. BIL's place on our N border lost about 200 acres and the fire stopped about 1/4 to the north of our camp that I know of. We grabbed our camper and headed out of there. Last I heard it was around 1,200 acres burned.

Drove from Llano to Brownwood yesterday. Brown ground all the way-only color was a few lonely redbuds.

All the flood events the last 4 years and nothing in the watershed, Im afraid the “bought” water won’t be able to be actually be delivered down the river into the canals. We will see, we start back irrigating next week on sugar cane, beating a dead horse I afraid. We will irrigate everything twice, but then its over. RGV ag will start to shut down. If it rains, it would be kinda nice, the air is wicked dry. Trying to let it be what it is without BP rising too much

Strange year for rain in a lot of places. I live in Eastern Bell County and we have had 10”+ since the first of the year. My pond is full and ran around the dam for a month. Hopeeveyone starts getting rain like we have had.

I hunt between Del Rio and Bracketville. It’s terrible. Ponds and creeks have dried up

Country looks pitiful. I have had no measurable rain since first of November & that was only 4/10. Brush is struggling, quail took a hit last yr during freeze & there numbers are very low. **** these droughts, drive a guy to drinkin.

I drove out that way last week. Couldn't believe what I was looking at. Zero green for miles and miles.

Not sure how Brazoria county is considered to be in "moderate drought"... It's been a mud hole for the last 5 months!!! We were waaaaay above average rain in 2021..

We have been dry since last June. Very little measurable precep since then. We are 20 miles from Oklahoma and 25 miles NW of Wichita Falls. We had a fire burn thru 150 acres of our place in September. There were always a ton of deer on that burned ground during the season. Our wheat barely survived the season and oats were gone by the first of December from the lack of rain.
