I noticed that my cell camera had stopped sending me pics about 4 weeks ago. I went to my lease last week, and I could not get a cell signal. I assumed my antenna wasn’t working. (Squirrels chewed it up a couple of years ago, but it had still been working fine). Turns out the camera was only 3G, and AT&T stopped their 3G service. I was told by an AT&T employee that I could just take the camera to one of their stores and they could get it going again. Just an FYI for anyone that has the same problem.

I hate to say this because I feel like I'm kicking a man when he's down, but a few years ago the cell camera providers started telling us that 3G would be discontinued and everyone needed to upgrade to LTE. 4G will be DQ soon, too. I'm on Covert and they've been saying it for at least 3 years. It was on their web site, too.

I think you are going to need to contact Covert. I don't think AT&T is going to be able to do anything for you. Covert has a trade in program that allows for you to buy a discounted LTE camera for like $200 when you give them the serial number off of your old 3G camera. I did it for two of mine and was glad to get the new technology.

So PLEASE, do not spread disinformation.
PS: this rant, though in response to your post, is not meant as an attack. I keep seeing people post this and it is absolutely not true.Last edited by Rush2Judge; 03-23-2022, 02:57 PM.

All cellular meters are on a version of LTE. The newest standard for low data rate and low cost is a version of LTE called Cat-M1. It is very new and is not going away. We have a product we will launch this Summer that is a Cat-M1 device that also supports voice and AT&T calls the technology LTE-M. Even ALL voice calls on the 5G network are actually switched to LTE. It is called VoLTE. That is what everything switched to last month.

Time will tell. Technology is constantly advancing. Especially in communications. I work for AT&T. 4G LTE is not the final destination of humans technological advancements. It may last a few years longer than I mentioned, but it will be replaced. EVERYTHING DOES.
