All Inclusive Ideas for Family of 6

We would like to take an all inclusive trip (food for everyone and alcohol for wife and I and maybe the older "kids") in June. It would be my wife and 4 teenage sons. We aren't locked into any specific place just looking for something a little cheaper than a Sandals type on a beach that can accommodate us. Mexico was our first thought but again we aren't locked into any specific location. Ideally we could find a resort with multiple places to hop between for dinner, etc but that isn't a deal breaker either way. Suggestions?

So far we have had Dreams Resorts suggested to us in Playa, Punta Cana and Cancun. We are also curious about Ex Caret and Isla Mujeres.

Covid restrictions are deal breakers in terms of needing to be vaccinated and tested.

Also, is this something that can/should be planned ourselves or should we look into a travel agent? I've never used a travel agent so not sure if they increase the cost and if they do if it is worth it.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

As of right now you’re going to have to get tested to come back into the states from Mexico, but I can assure you the passage rate from the place I just came from (we literally just landed an hour ago) is 100.00%.

Isla Mujeres is popular. Any all inclusive is going to offer all you can eat food and drink but the drinks are typically pretty weak. I would tie your budget to reviews on Travelocity and go from there.

Cancun is affordable and easy enough to get to! Plenty of options for all inclusives in the area. No help tho, we always stay at adults only places.

Currently Cancun and seaweed is a disaster. Isla is a little better. DR canta is bad too now but the la romana is clear. That’s where we are going this year

Was in Cabo a couple weeks ago. Stayed at a new to me place, Garza Blanca. It's a little far out from the Cabo nightlife but beaches, pools, and activities are on the resort so didn't even go into town. Selection of restaurants and food venues was good.

Not sure about other international places but the US requires the test prior to returning. Hopefully this changes soon. A rant on this - Every single person on the plane was tested and screened and yet masks were required on the plane. And airplane air is supposed to be the cleanest of anywhere.

          Here's the resort link: https://cabo.garzablancaresort.com/

I’d take a close look at Costa Rica. Lots of options there especially if you like to fish. Currently booking our trip now.

Wife and I are taking 3 older kids to Cancun in July. Going to book the RIU palace peninsula. Hop on the Ferry to Isla for one of the days. We have stayed there and quite a few other RIUs. They are what your looking for and priced quite a bit below dreams and sandals. We stayed at Dreams in Costa Rica and Costa Mujeres (cancun) For the money, Riu palace is where its at.

Wife and I want to go back to Costa Rica, but we will not do an all inclusive next time. If your looking all inclusive, Cancun or Playa del carmen is a great choice. Cheaper resorts, and things to get out and do close to the resorts. The drive to many of the excursions is pretty short. Excursions from the Costa Rica and Dominican Republic all inclusive resorts are a pretty good ride away.

Truth-I can’t imagine ever going to Mexico again. Everything about Costa Rica was better imo. Look on the internet at Costa Rica vacations. We used them 8 years ago. 10/10 would use again. They set absolutely everything up at the budget I gave them. They only use people/places/activities they have checked out.

We were setting plans up with them about 6months ago the CR put a mandatory vaccination rule in place so we bailed on the idea. Got an email from them saying that CR is lifted all Covid requirements so we are now setting up again.

Hope y’all have a great trip! We were in Arenal for 5 days and Tamarindo for 6 days. Was me, momma and 3 kids. Everyone had a blast. Caught some nice sail fish in Tamarindo.

We stayed at Arenal Nayara in Arenal and Cala Luna in Tamarindo

Royal sands in Cancun is top notch and family friendly, drinks are good as well as food close to the zona hotelera. We usually fly out from reynosa as it is a lot cheaper and no COVID test required to return back if you cross back in vehicle. Checkout vivaaerobús.com prices are in pesos but has the usd rate as well. Krystal is also a great resort and riviera maya is a great location as well as punta aventuras

                        Following

We want to do something in May and my wife is having issues finding family suites to accommodate all 6 of us that are in HER budget.

Last time we were in Cancun we did the Grand Residences in Puerto Morelos. I really liked it... low key, nice accommodations, and decent food.

Costa Rica is my preferred destination. We stayed at Springs Resort in Arenal and Hyatt Andaz on Papaguyo Coast. Both were nice but neither are all inclusive. If you do Costa Rica I suggest renting a car. Too many cool places to see to just be hanging out at a resort. If all you are looking for is a beach and a bar Cancun is the cheapest option.

I’ll say it again. MOST of cancuns beaches are currently so full of seaweed the water is black

Plus the smell. Agree, it's terrible.

Plenty of options in the Riviera Maya that are much better than Cancun for the same price and no seaweed issue
