Hard to beat a S/W wheel gun. Simple, reliable, pick up a second hand one pretty reasonable. Easy to conceal.

I would say not to get one to leave in truck, they get broke into, its gone into the wrong hands. Best to get CHL and carry with you.

If you are talking about a weapon to keep in your truck and you do NOT have a permit, I would get a cheap one. If it stays in the truck and you are not in the truck for some reason...and it gets stolen, you do ot want to lose a $1000 pistol. Like someone said, Bersa or one of many Eastern Bloc surplus guns in 9X18 Makarov are great and inexpensive. Heck even a $177 Highpoint ghetto gun in .45 or 9mm. They are UGLY but function quite well in a pinch..just my .02

I have a S&W Sigma for this very reason, its not to expensive but it has never failed or jammed, and its not a big loss if it get stolen.
