Went over to my dads house today because I needed a new “fireplace tool set” for the new backyard fire pit. We walked out to his forge and he just started putting stuff in my hands and saying take this, take that, here is this one too…… I said; pop, all I need is a poker and a shovel
He stopped, looked at me for a second and said “shut up”

First pic is a few of what he made in the forge and gave me but the last few pics is something he saw once in a museum…..who knows what it might be. He told me what it was and….I didn’t have a clue. Thought I’d see how much smarter y’all are

Yessir.. he’s pretty talented with it and a lot of other things like wood carving, tanned I don’t know how many deer hides and made buckskin clothes for his self and my step mom, a teepee, possible bags. All kinds of knives, spears, tomahawks. He, they actually, used to go to rendezvous every year.

The man thinks he’s a mountain man. I think he was simply born 100-150 years to late

Last of a dying breed. I’m fascinated with things that men built with their hands a hundred years ago. I live in a 120 year old house that was built with hand saws. They were masters of their trades.
