Metal Roofs - anyone have one installed lately????

Due to the recent hail damage, I need to get my roof replaced. I currently have a tabless shingle roof.

I’d like to have a metal roof put on instead. Anyone had a metal roof put on recently? I’m wondering what the cost difference is. I have about 37-38 squares to put on.

i did one myself last year due to a hail storm,they say about 40 percent higher,my house is 2500 square feet and the metal was 4000

What type of metal roof are you talking about putting back on? They still get damaged by hail if its large enough. The damages are however mostly cosmetic...

The bottom has fallen out of the metal market...for now. I've heard wholesale quotes as low a $60/sq for 26ga 45yr paint warranty R-panel, although metal roof trim/flashings are considerably more expensive than comp roof edging. By comparison, 30 year composition roofing is upwards of $80/sq. I would suggest that with a little shopping that you could get a metal roof and Class IV rating that would qualify for insurance premium reduction, for the same money you'd spend on a 30yr comp roof.

The manager at Metal Mart here in Lubbock told us this past week that prices are falling and should be below $2 per linear foot.

A roofer that I normally sell comp roofing to told me () that Mueller was selling him 26ga R-panel for that. I have never sold him metal, so it wasn't just a BS line to try to get a better price. I dunno. Lowest wholesale quote I've personally received has been $71.33/sq for metal only. Sorry, I don't know what it is installed.
