My first wife, (and high school sweetheart) parents had, (and still do) a place
on Weatherford. I don't know much about now. But in the late 60's..
We would fish from dusk to dawn. And practally fill up a trash can.. We'd
spend the next day cleaning fish. (no limit back then) That's where I learned to fillet, a fish. And back a boat.. A lot of the times, we didn't use bait. Just a shinny gold
    hook..

Cant remember exactly, what time of the year, but my buddy has a place out there and we catch tons of them, off his dock.

Believe it or not the barge can be pretty successful. End of March beginning of April
My boy usually kills it over there

Thanks all for the responses. I do see some nice rigs on the lake so I guess they are catching something. I have heard good things off the dock too.

Yes, there’s a little hump just West of the boat house. We used to Slaughter them there.

Weatherford is hot or cold and most fish are 9-11 inches. I fish it more than any other lake because it is convenient but it is far from my favorite lake to fish.

I would say weatherford is the best crappie lake in the metroplex. Find the brush piles (lots of them out there). If you’re only catching small ones, find another brush pile. My son and I caught over 200 in a few hours out there last year. We were only keeping fish over 12” and it didn’t take long to have a limit of 12” plus fish.

I’ve always heard Wford. Leon and Graham we’re the best crappie lakes over that way but I’m not gonna find out! I’m not pulling a boat across the metroplex when Conroe is is so good!!

Used to be excellent back in the day !
Old men owned all of the docks and put brush out.
They are all dead and gone, now high dollar docks and wake board boats instead of fish structure. I’m sure they can still be found but need to find natural structure that will hold them.
