    Sharpening Gut Hook

I have a knife with a gut hook on the end that has gotten dull. What is the best way to sharpen a gut hook? Knife is a Benchmade Grizzly Creek Folder and they wont sharpen or replace the hook as part of the "Lifesharp Warranty"

I know i can google it and youtube it, but want to know from personal first hand experience what works best for yall.

I use round diamond stone usually sold as a hook sharpener

You can buy sharpening stones that are the shape of little cylinders. You could also use a fine file. Not sure if that would give you a razor sharp edge though.

Use a chainsaw file for initial sharpening and finish up with a ceramic stick.

Wet/dry sand paper from an auto store wrapped around a pencil works well too

You can also wrap some 600/800/1000/1200 grit wet/dry sand paper around a 1/4" dowel rod.

If you have a Work Sharp this works great.
