    Caribou Hunt?

Anyone have any recommendations on a trophy caribou hunt? I am booked for elk this fall so looking for 2023 or beyond. Would be a rifle hunt. I am only interested in a fully guided hunt. Do not want to do a self guided drop camp.

I am not particular on any location, just want a good hunt with a reputable outfitter and high chance at big bulls. Would be my business partner and me.

I like the looks of Mountain Caribou, but would be interested in any of the subspecies. Anyone have anywhere they recommend?

If you are looking for an adventure hunt for Mountain Caribou in some of the wildest country there is you might look up:
      Canol Outfitters or Lancaster Outfitting.
I might add they are pricey but first class operations.

I agree with this! What type of caribou do you want to hunt? What is the budget? How much work are you willing to do? I personally think woodlands are the prettiest but they have gotten expensive. If you want a barren ground go to Nunavut with Kyler Nelson.

I’ve never killed one and eventually would like all subspecies, so not too particular on the type of caribou. I’ve hunted out west quite a bit and don’t mind putting in some work but don’t necessarily want to hike 15 miles a day through soft ground either lol.

As far as budget, no set in stone number. I don’t mind paying for a great trip and quality animal. Let’s call it $15-$20K per person for the hunt.

You can do mountain for that.. Kinda all depends on what you want.. Mountain caribou will be almost like a sheep hunt.. Probably backpack or horseback.

If you want a more laid back caribou hunt staying in a lodge/camp you could do woodland in the low end of that price range.

If I’m spending 15-20k$ on a caribou, I’m getting a sheep knocked off the list first, just my opinion.

Woodland caribou are the prettiest and between them and finding an old barren ground bull up high in the mountains those two would be the most adventure. Each of the 4 species have different antler characteristics i.e bigger shovels, longer beams, bigger bez, etc. All of them are beautiful in their own right. Greenland might be a place you might look at as well, have heard nothing but positive about hunts over there.

Sheep just don’t trip my trigger the way they do some folks. The hunt itself would be awesome, but just not in love with sheep enough to spend the type of coin it takes to chase them at this point.

Also, never considered Greenland. But, quick search looks interesting. Will definitely be doing some more research on that. Muskox is on my list also and a Muskox/Caribou combo would be pretty cool.

I have done all of them but Alaskan barren ground. Mountain is a blast but will be close to a sheep hunt or like a tough back country elk hunt. Mine was like a sheep! My woodland was tough as it was hours upon hours trudging through wet tundra. If you want Alaska then the draw units have the biggest bulls and best odds. Stryker Overly(?) has some well known Alaskan hunts with grizzly as a very likely add on. If I was getting in to the game, wanted adventure, and get a chance to fish I would head to Nunavut!

One last option. How about reindeer on the Aleutian Islands? It’s on my bucket list!

My wife and I are doing a drop hunt in September of this year for caribou. Using ram aviation. Prolly not exactly what you’re looking for but it what fits our budget. I’m just hoping to get her on a solid caribou she can have mounted.
