    Are body shops that busy?

My sister had a guy run into her car and the body shop said she could bring it in July 6th.

Are they having a hard time getting parts? Or is this a labor thing also?

What are people doing who get in a wreck where the car is not drivable? Rental car for 4-5 months?

Yes, and yes. Body shops are all full and having hell getting parts. Lots of turnover in body shop guys. My son is a Insurance Adjuster for a Insurance Company and he said it is absolutely horrible right now.

It’s a parts issue for sure.

Dropped my truck off last summer. It took over 8 weeks to get fixed and a crappy job at that. Talk to a different shop after. He said it wouldn't have taken them that long. Like you said I.m not sure what they expect you to do foe a vehicle while its getting fixed. To do it over again I would just have them total it out and move on. Still messing with the crappy work from the first shop.

On a message forum that I’m on, a guy had a 2 year old car that just got totaled out, even though the damage was only about 33% of what the car would sell for right now. He said the reason why it got totaled is certain parts for it are currently not available but are projected to be available in at least 90 days. The cost for at least a 90 day rental, and no guarantee the parts would come in within that 90 time period pushed it into totaled territory.

We took my wife's car in about a month ago and were being 2-3 months. It just needs a front bumper, fender, headlight.

Wife has a 21 Nissan Rouge, minor wreck on Nov 1, 2021. Her car is still in shop, they are waiting on a strut, this all they need to finish. On backorder. It is at a Nissan body shop, you would think if anyone could get one, they could

Yes 4+ months backed up at my dealership the back up is mainly back ordered parts but also Bodyshop guys and mechanics are hard to find . There are very few young people going into the field.

GM parts if ordered today would not be in for 3 months! I bit the bullet and ordered grill guards for our suburban and my 21 Sierra yesterday! My GM dealer has brand new trucks that have come in so stripped down that they are using parts off of them to repair other vehicles. They’ll get reimbursed some day.

I sell to 25 a day. They do not want a parking lot full of cars waiting on parts. If your car is drive able they send you home with it and order the parts. When the parts show up they call you in for a 3 day repair. Lots of folks go buy a car and sell their old car when it is repaired...

Had my wreck on 8-20-21. Took 2 months to get the work done with the exception of new seatbelts. Major impact so they have to be replaced. Got the wrong color ones to put in so I could get back on the road since the rental was only covered for 30 days (I had to claim it on my insurance since her's was trying to lowball me). STILL waiting on the correct colored seatbelts to be delivered and no word from Ford when they would be available. And her insurance is dragging their feet to pay my insurance so I can get my money back. Out of pocket over $3k so far.

Funny you post this. I called 3 places today in College Station. My son was hit buy a guy and has small amount of damage. Calibur Collision would not even see him. Said to busy and only doing insurance claims. This kids dad is paying cash to have fixed. Finally found one that would inspect and tell me what it will cost on Friday. But cant work on it until mid April. crazy stuff for sure.

I have gotten so paranoid while driving- I keep my old 360 degree truck driver eyes wide open- if anyone gets close I get off of the road or mash on it .

Yes the majority of shops are that I sell to daily
Scheduling cars is the new way.. get the parts call customer..
What was happening is there would be a parts issue and customers rent car would run out!!
And they get a upset about having to pay for their rental while their car sets!
