    Knife makers...handle touch up help.

I have a custom w/ a water buffalo handle that needs some attn due to minor surface scratches...what's the best way to touch her up & does it need any sort of coating after polishing??

    thanks.

I use pink compound on a buffing wheel. Makes it shine like a new penny.

IMO if you touch it with sandpaper, it better be 600 or finer. If you have a buffing wheel, you could go 600/800/1200 then buff.

        GTG on the sandpaper.

Only buffer I have is for a dremel which should work...nothing needs to go on the handle afterwards??

a dremel buffer will work fine but load it up heavy with rouge - I always use the pink scratchless that Hills of Texas was talking about but you could use white rouge and prolly don't want to go full speed I use a 320 on a 1X42 sander then go over with an extremely wore out 320 then buff. If you run out of rouge on your buffing wheel you will burn the horn and then you have mo worky!! doesn't need anything on the horn either

Can the pink scratchless compound be found at Lowes & such??

You can probably find a scratch less compound at any hardware store. The compounds I buy are either from jantz, or pops knife supply.
