Any recommendations on wire and place to buy wire in the N Houston area? It is an 80’ run which will be run in conduit. Was planning on 6gauge thhn from Home Depot/Lowes until I read for dry to damp applications. Would prefer it be one encapsulated line instead of the 4 individuals that I would need otherwise. Any advise is appreciated.

Cable is difficult to pull through conduit, due to the cable's size and the sheathing, so running cable in conduit typically is limited to very short runs that do not require standard wire pulling techniques. Also note that NM(romex) cable is not rated for outdoor, or wet, applications. Get individual wires(THHN). They can all be black and you color code each end for ID since you are using conduit. It should be less expensive than buying a multi conductor cord.

I was in city electric on Saturday Discussing with them. This is a new run so pulling thru conduit one joint at a time shouldn't be a problem regardless of what I have to run. They recommended the #6 but mentioned THHN not THWN.

And you can get triplex in conduit 10 feet at a time pretty easy to. I did 265 feet of 250 mcm at the lake that way.
All my stuff came from city electric on 2978

North Central Ks.
Do you have any center pivot irrigation contractors near you.?
I often buy 4 conductor urd cables in continuous hdpe pipes from them.. the last pivot i wired was an 1800ft run of quad 4 al cable.
Often have remnants left over..
You can purchase a run of 4/4/4/4 urd for 1/4 the cost of #6 copper.
Call an electric supply house, ask them the price for an 80ft cut of 4/4/4/4 urd. You can direct bury it. Just sleeving the ends coming out of the ground.. in dirt.. if rocky soil.. sleeve in conduit all the way.Last edited by Zmaxhunter; 02-13-2022, 05:42 PM.

You can buy this, $2.08 per foot.. all 4 wires.. 4 runs of #6 copper is about $6.72 per foot..
Install a rv panel like this, https://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-RV-Pa...E&gclsrc=aw.ds
All options covered...

Tie a masons line to a plastic bag..suck it thru the pipe with a shop vac.. tie on and pull in a 1/4" rope.. use a pint of dawn dishsoap.. or buy wire pulling lubricant.. or slip the conduit over the wire.. 1 or 2 pieces at a time.
If you use alum wire.. use nolox or other approved antioxidant on connections

Looks like I will be going with the individual runs of #6 copper. May be a stupid question but does the ground need to go back and tie into the ground at he breaker box or can it be grounded at the end at the plug box? I have always run it back to the breaker box ground in the past but noticed a ground screw in the plug box.
