    Coons

I built a trough feeder a few weeks ago to feed protein and sweet feed. Deer are taking to it well but so are the coons!! Don’t have a camera out on it but they have been pooping all in the feeder. No telling how much feed they have wasted. I’ve put out the Dukes coin traps and have killed 4 in three days. I hate those suckers!! My wife laughs saying it will be a never ending battle but I ain’t scared and I’m ambitious!!

Keep giving em hell.....They will keep coming and making more unless you keep them from coming permanently. I love trapping them myself. I just look at it as collecting past food bills not paid yet..

We are at 431 coons since 2015 for our lease. Sadly, you spend all weekend caching 4-5 coons and are happy with that......then momma coon shows up with 4 new kits on Monday night.. Frustrating and it's like clockwork.

She’s right. It never ends but persistence pays off. You will save money on feed keeping those traps running.

I just checked my camera and had a lot of coons trying to get corn out of it. I usually have almost no coon pictures because they can`t get any out of it, but they are desperate with so little to eat right now and willing to give more effort than usual. Good luck.

They’ll stay in that trough - it is now like a 5 star hotel to them. Put a camera up- I bet you’ll get pics of them sleeping in the trough also!

One of my feeders here at the house I killed in the high 80s (forgot the exact number) over an approximate 19 month period. That’s just off one feeder. I haven’t seen a coon in several months. I only added a few of them to the tally last year.

Yes sir. That is what most do … post your numbers, add them to the last post for the new total and post it for the next guy.

On edit … I see you already did it. Keeping on knocking ‘em in the head.

Seems like I read somewhere that Golden Malrin will discourage those coons with extreme prejudice

At the price of protein on my own land, a coon resistant protein feeder makes sense. Love a Hammer style.

I trapped 74 last year on 140 acres
Only 7 so far this year on 300 acres.

If you have pen put up a 3 wire electric fence around it. Problem solved. I havent had a coon in mine in 3yrs since I put it up.
