    rotor honing (sanding)

Brakes on my truck are glazed and squeal a bit when i first drive off, especially in reverse. Rotors arent old or thin they are just glazed. Brake pads have like 80% life left.

I found this hone on amazon but was looking for some feedback from those that have done it.

    Thanks!

I would think Emory cloth would pose less risk of gouging the rotor, it it is just glazed.

That’s one of those you won’t know until you try. I’d prefer to turn em on a lathe for the sure repair

Just emery cloth or a course scotch brite pad, then wash with dish soap and water

You can buy a rotor for the price of that tool.

Take the rotors to O'Reilly's they'll turn them

wet rotors are one of the leading causes of squealing brakes, regardless of whether they’re new or old. As the moisture sits, a thin layer of rust forms, and when your disc brakes operate as they should, this breaks off into small particles. These particles then become embedded into the brake pads, and when they press against the rotor, it creates a squealing sound. Thankfully, this does not last very long, and after a few hard stops,it should disappear. If not, the issue might be more serious.

If you're tired of hearing your brakes squeal, then see this guide on why your new brakes are squealing and how you can fix it.
