    Storing Grease

I could have sworn I’ve seen a thread about this but I can’t find it.
Why does grease stored in a grease gun leak? I assume it’s because of the heat of the summer. It’s still the consistency that grease should be but just makes a mess.
How do y’all store your grease?

That is the add pack in the grease that is leaking out . If you look at the case the tube came in, it should have a direction to store it in .

I have actually never read the tube other than the specifications part.

I used to have that problem years ago, but I don't know if it's the grease guns I have or the fact I am using moly grease now days. I don't have the problem of grease seeping out of the end of the guns, have not in years. Both of my grease guns are cheap O'Reilly's grease guns. I would bet it's the grease I am using now, compared to the grease I used to use. I know conventional greases, will melt once they get over a certain temp. We have used grease to prime engine oil pumps and transmission pumps for many years. It will melt and become part of the engine oil or transmission fluid. Moly grease you don't want inside an engine, it will stick to parts and will not melt, and is much slicker than conventional grease.

I have not thought about the grease leakage issue, till you brought it up. I keep my grease guns on top of my tool box, or in one of my tool carts, no leakage.

I picked up a grease gun the other day and wondered the same thing

Have to wipe the gun down before you can use it to keep it off of you

Small one for the mower is in my beer fridge. Big one's in a bucket.

Its grease. It doesn't matter, I'm going to ruin a good shirt anyway.
