    Rocky Ridge Drive Thru Safari

Has anybody ever been to Rocky Ridge Drive Thru Safari in Eustace Texas? Wife is wanting to take the grandkids there later this year. Wanting to know if it’s worth the money.

We went over the summer. Really good memories were made.

It’s a nice park and my kids liked it.

I did have an eventful/aggravating time on my visit. About 10 minutes through the gate we encountered the buffalo on the trail and 5 or 6 made their way to the truck. Kids were throwing some of the feed on the ground and all was good. This one giant dinosaur sized beast came walking up and you could tell he was the boss. The others moved out of the way and he took over the buffet duties. At this point I started to edge forward as we were in a line of vehicles just creeping along.

This is where the fun starts. A zebra came walking up to get in on the snacks and the buffalo did not like that. They started shuffling about and ‘BAM’!!!!! That huge beast cobra kai kicked the snot out of my rear passenger door and it sounded like a gun shot went off. Scared all of us and boy did I jump. Eventually got to move on and the look on my wife’s face when she hung out the door to check the damage told me everything before I even saw it. So for the next hour we crept along throwing out cubes to all the animals and all I wanted to do was go back and wonder how much it would cost to shoulder mount a buffalo. Once we got out of the park I finally hopped out to see the massive dent that he put in my door.

Yes, I know enter at your own risk and I signed the waiver. Not mad at the park, but that is something I won’t ever forget.

      Park entry fee. $75
Extra feed for the kids. $20
      Ford passenger door damage. $1,800
Random Saturday drive thru Safari. $Priceless

This sounds like a 5 star Google review.

I had the same experience at a park in/near Franklin with damage to my vehicle. A few dents, and a lot of scratches. I almost had to choke out an Ostrich. Apparently they like shiny things or, maybe they don’t like them which is why he went into full attack mode. I’m talking all 4’ of his head and neck inside my cab trying to bite at what appeared to be my console compartment. Come to find out he wanted my Copenhagen can, and he took it after we tussled. As if that wasn’t enough he chased after us for half of the trail. Not being his first rodeo he cut across the park and waited for us. As we were working our way to the exit he started head butting the window and then kicked the car on the way out. My youngest daughter was terrified. I bought some ostrich quill boots not long after. She believes that I had them made out of that beast. Daddy has her back. Lol

Ostrich and zebras are both a holes. Fossil Rim basin is another good one
