All that was reported to me was that this one was made for Fred by a guy. He didn't tell me the "long funny story."
"The only thing I have left of Fred's is his tree stand. It's a very rough home made looking stand. Long funny story, but it was made by some guys in VT which is where I live, and given to Frank Scott who hunted up here to bring back to Fred. It was bought at the Bears tag sale before moving to Gainesville."
Fairly primitive hang-on, alright. Wonder if he killed anything from it?
Did he have a safety harness?? My hunter’s ed course told me never get in a tree stand without a safety harness.
Watched a video of his years ago where he stalks a Grizzly to about 20 yards and shoots right over the bears back. Made Fred mad and he just threw his bow on the ground, turned his back to the bear and walked away. Doubt if the man was to worried about falling out of a tree stand.
I'm gonna take a chance and say that the guy shooting bears with a stick from behind a rock wasn't concerned about falling out of a tree. Fearless lol!
