plant explosion in Westlake, LA

just happened around 10:55am at the old PPG/Axiall plant

edit: Westlake, LA (KPLC) - Calcasieu officials have confirmed that there was an explosion at the Westlake chemical south plant.

Officials said it involved Ethylene Dichloride.

Report I received is multiple people hurt, ambulances in/out, shops destroyed, automobile windows blown out in the parking lot. Possible cause may be a tank that was being worked on.

Nor sure how accurate all the info is since it is so early. But, the concussion was felt all the way in Orange.

I live in Orange, was outside in garage when it happened. Felt/heard something, didn't know it was an explosion but man it felt odd. Praying for those guys

Six injured. Shelter-in-place just lifted. Injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. Empty Ethylene Dichloride tank exploded around 10:45 a.m. at Westlake Chemical.
