    Javelina around Three Rivers?????

Looking for a javelina hunt to take grandkids on. We have been given he green light to hunt a place outside of Three River, more exact east of Oakville. Is there any javelina in this area? I havent been on the place so just trying to see if its worth the drive.

    Thanks, Jeff

Yes, they are in that area.

Can the landowner confirm for you?

Did they say there’s javelina on the exact place you’ll be hunting?

Where I hunt, We’ve got javelina in our area. I’ve seen them on the ranch next door and and to our south but we haven’t had a single one in 4 years.

There is not a lot there, but they exist in the general area. My uncle’s wife’s family used to have a ranch around Peggy, I never saw any javelina on the place, but one did show up at one point, maybe cousin it, with his bow. They lived there for about 10 years, that may have been the only one they saw. I know a guy who lives just west of Beeville, we have seen a few javelina around where he lives. Then we used to hunt outside of Tilden back in the late 70s we would see small groups of them daily on that place. In a weekend, we would probably see the same five to seven stink pigs three times. They would be in groups of two, to three stinkers.

There is a lot of that area, that has been over hunted many years ago. I don’t know how the populations may have recovered since those days.

He lives here (northeast Texas) and hasnt been down there in years. Same guy has run cattle on it for over 30 years. No need in bothering him when I have the power of TBH.

Take a bunch of corn with you and corn the roads. If there's a java pig on the ranch, they'll find that corn quick, fast n in a hurry!
Good luck! Hope your boys get 'em! Be sure and give them the "full" experience of shooting them, dragging them out to where you can load 'em in the truck, skinning and boxing the meat... THEN go take a HOT shower and get the dang fleas of you and those boys!! That's a worse experience than overcoming the dang smell!!

Just squirt them with dawn and wash them off. That will get rid of the fleas. And they will for sure have fleas !

You know, I never thought about that, but I bet you're right! Both of my grandsons have "experienced" the javelina hunt... They loved every minute of it until the biting and itching started!!
