    Jasper engine review?

Getting ready to put an engine in my truck. Thinking about going with Jasper crate engine. Anyone used them before? Good or bad?

I just visited with a mechanic buddy of mine on this subject. He uses Jasper short and long blocks all the time and has nothing but good to say about them.
I’m leaning towards going with a Jasper 5.3l in my 2010 GMC with fuel management deleted once all the good is out of the factory drop.

Seems like I just saw something on here where a bunch of people were recommending them.

I've talked to two shops near me and both recommend Jasper. I'm going with a 4.8l that came in it originally. Does what I need.

For some reason, the search function does not work on this work PC.

On something straight forward like the LS platform I have heard they have done fine. On some of the more specialized stuff (6.4 powrestrokes and what not) they say to stay away from them. As mentioned below I would delete the active fuel management to help with longevity. I know there are kits out there that the engine building can use. If I understand it correctly the AFM uses lifters that can get eaten up that wipes out the cam and then you got metal shavings from both getting circulated through the oiling system and everything gets chewed up pretty quick.

I have a coworker that is having his Jasper engine replaced in his truck. Jasper is covering it under warranty.

The 4.8l does not have AFM.

Friend was in the engine reman business bask in the early 90s--Jasper was the high-quality name back then as well. Great reputation.

I have used them for 25 years at my shop and if they offer the motor or transmission they get my business. They are good people to deal with and if a warranty issue does come up there is no bs

I've put probably 250 units over the years. Great product, we do have some failures as with all parts but they stand behind them and really do a nice job of getting the replacement products out quickly. I would not hesitate to use them.

I had a jasper short block in my cobra at one point. Worked great no issues.

I have a Jasper 351W in my Bronco. The rear main seal started leaking while under warranty and they paid for most of the replacement. Their warranty pay out rate was a little less than the shop's hourly rate. Not a bad deal, though.
