Had two of my coverts go down this week. After almost 1000 days of constant use in the field one of my 4G blackhawks stopped sending pics. My best guess is this cameras sent around 60,000-75,000 photos with no issues, it’s on a feed station. I checked it out, had battery and service but said “no sim”. I popped the sim out, cleaned it, cameras back and running.
The second covert is an E1. Has been in the field for roughly 400 days. Has battery and service but the logo flashes on and off. Tried two different sets up batteries same thing. I’m guessing it’s toast.
Overall pretty impressed with the blackhawks. Wouldn’t purchase the E1 again and will be swapping out the E1 with a newer Blackhawk.
This off season I’ll be building new solar setups for each Blackhawk. Dirts, moisture, ants, and just being out in the field is slowly draining external batt performance but that’s understandable.
Does anyone make a plug and play 12V solar system for the Blackhawk’s? I’ve been using a 12V to 6V converter as it’s nice to use feeder batteries for uniformity.
