    Weevils in corn

We chronically have issues with weevils in our feeders. We use bill corn and usually 1/4 of the feeders get severe weevils at some point through the year.

Is there anything that you can put in the corn that’s relatively safe? Definitely don’t want to spray the corn with an insecticide.

We used diatomaceous earth in a few but too early to know if that works.

    Any tips are appreciated

I looked into this for my bulk protein. There is a substance called Diacon that can be added to feed. Never bought any.

Tape a raid bug strip on the lids , weevils gone , Chang the strip when weevil are back

        Critters still eat the corn

Get a ziplock and fill it with cloves. Poke holes in the ziplock ductape it to the top inside of the barell. Not the lid. And change out once a year. Their gone.

If they ever get completely empty spray the inside with malathion. Let dry and then add corn.

We put no pest strips in blinds. But I never thought about putting one in a feeder. I’ll give that a shot.

I will give it a shot. I have a gravity feeder that doesn’t get hit a lot and gets weevils after a while. Hopefully this helps.

An insecticide cattle ear tag would work too…

Most feed stores will sell you just one instead of a whole box

diatomaceous earth on bulk corn, has always worked for us through the season
