    Arrow Build for Lightweight/Short Draw

Following up my broad head thread, I am now looking to build a good penetrating hunting arrow for my wife. She is a 25” DL and we plan to have her hunting around 40lbs with a Mission Switch. I am getting some 125 grain Iron Will Solids for JES on here. What’s worked well for you guys with similar setups?

Follow the trad route, heavy arrow with high foc. If you are shooting 125s then I’d check out the .400 spines as normally it would be too stiff for that draw and weight but once you add that 125 grain head and maybe a 50g brass insert then you have 200grains up front which will weaken the spine and give you a good amount of FOC.

That’s just my thoughts, will be curious to what others say.

I've got 6 newly fletched Easton Axis 5mm arrows that I bought last week for a Bear Hunt but decided to go a different route. They've been cut to 28.5" with 75 grain inserts added. Can be cut again to fit her draw length. PM if interested. Located in Nac

I think a .500 would be closer. I shoot .500 FMJs with 225gr up front from my 46# longbow. Other than that, I agree with going with a heavier arrow and a cut in contact 2-blade broadhead.

I definitely trust your advice. On my 65lb Hoyt I went to a 340 spine cut short (28” draw) with a 100g head and I think a 75g brass insert.

I completely forgot about the spine for her. These I have are .300 and are probably to stiff for her setup

Look at Easton Axis long Range (4mm) in a 400 spine. At her DL, and with components (50 gr. Half out, nock and vanes), and your broadhead choice, you end up at roughly 375 gr. of terror on a micro arrow(penetration) and a real nice FOC.

Will that micro diameter still accept standard heads?
