Check with Will or Adam at LSR to see if they have any deals. I bought my Blue Diamond extreme open front brush cutter from the Tyler store a couple years ago, and love that thing. I have took it into the thickest stuff you could imagine and it always performs. It is a four blade model. I really wish it had the mulcher teeth on the bottom like the Ground Shark to cut the stumps closer to the ground. I'm sure it's a problem for most tracked machines, running over and turning on stumps and roots that you can't see is a great way to jump a track. Needless to say I've become well skilled at popping tracks back on.

        As others have said.

        RUT
        Virnig
        Blue diamond

        Are some of the best.

I would be looking for one with teeth on bottom of stump jumper as well.

Im running the Alpha Wolf that I purchased from Idigtexas.com Works very well for what I do. While it does NOT mulch, it shreds most trees to a the point that they are chips and the larger trees I pile up and burn. The manufacturer states it will chop up 10" trees but the biggest I feel comfortable using it on is about 8". I work primarily in the hill country removing cedars. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM.

Deck Style: Open Front Duty Rating: Extreme-Duty Cutting Width: 72 in Cutting Diameter: up to 10 in Hydraulic Flow: 23-45 GPM

Mine is the “Extreme”, and it’s a POS.

You may want to look into a tree puller with being in a rocky area, the brush cutter blades spin fast and throw sparks if you hit a rock, heck I was using mine at night this week and it was throwing sparks on a really hard tree. I have a Danuser tree puller and it works great for cedar trees. Cedars come up quick since they are mostly shallow rooted, but I've never ran equipment in rocks.

I see Vail X series shows 2000lbs. I would think that should be a good thing. I ran a 2200lb disc Mulcher and I don’t think you tear up the deck on that thing.

                      So far, I’ve talked to
Skid pro, and Express steel twice this week. Would have talked to rut again, but they are closed.
Will call rut on Monday and make my decision.
These are the ones that have made me feel good about, and they are 100% usa products with great warranties.
I’m also looking at their upper end cutters.
                      I’ll let y’all know.

Not much of an endorsement, I realize, but it was definitely built tough, and had been used multiple times before I got to it. No cracked welds or other issues to suggest that there were obvious quality issues.

                        Where’d you rent from
Can’t find any yards around here that will rent em out

This was at a Yellowhouse (Deere) dealership. They do one week to multi-month rentals on skid-steers/track loaders/dozers/excavators/etc.

The Vail-x was only an extra $100 a week, on top of the skid steer rental.

Yellowhouse doesn’t provide a trailer for their rentals, but their rates were WAY cheaper than others, and delivery was an option on bigger stuff.

I think I’m going to pull the trigger on an MTL XC8T, deck is built on same assembly line as Blue Diamond. Piston Drive.

Anybody have any negatives let me know.

Closer to Grayson county the better

I ended up ordering the blue diamond extreme open face brush cutter. It will be here many late next week. I’ll let y’all know how it does.
