    In need of WT cape

    Hey Greenscreen,

Shot my best buck this past weekend. Dad and I were in a hurry to get him packed away as light was fading and I cut him too high when caping him out. Didn’t even realize it until I got him to the taxi. Not able to shoulder mount him as is so looking to see if anyone has a cape they can part with so I can get this sucker on the wall.

Not a huge bodied deer if that matters. Located North of Dallas but will drive a few hours if it comes to it.

    Appreciate any help.

Obligatory pics incoming shortly but Tapatalk won’t let me at the moment

Man that’s a giant. Congratulations and I’m sure someone can provide a cape for you.

Nice buck. I’ve got an old 8 that I’m probably going to take soon if nothing else pops up on camera. If things work out I wouldn’t mind caping him for you.

I have a raw one that is from a nice buck I killed during bow season last year. I also have a south Texas cape that is already wet tanned and ready to mount. I’d take $150 for the south Texas cape as I had to pay to have him tanned. I’ll let the raw one go for free .99. I’d like to see someone use it.

I'd shoot him for sure. Good luck and patience on finding a cape--someone on the GS will come thru for you.

check with taxidermist. Mine gives a discount on skull mounts if you bring it in and he can use it

                  Congrats on a giant btw

Every big bodied buck I take for processing to my taxi/processor I cut low even though I won't be shoulder mounting it b/c I know someone will need one. He has never offered me a discount, but it costs me nothing, so why not? Your taxi should have some extra capes, but they usually charge extra to provide one.

Nice deer, big body. Need a similar size cape for a good mount. Best of luck!

I appreciate the free .99 offer on the raw cape! Looks like you may be a ways from me. I will see if I can find one local first and reach back out if not. Certainly don’t hold it for me though if you are looking to give it away. Appreciate the offer sir

@solocam, I appreciate that offer and good luck getting him!

Thanks all. Still looking. My taxi did not have one available, however, if you know of a good taxi in DFW that may, I’ll give them a call and my business if it works out.

I can shoot one in the hill country this weekend, but I’ll be headed back to Houston after.
