And don’t post on social media, but all the Bone Collector stuff is super cool, but influencers are bad, unless people are listening to what is said in this thread. And I think all mounts are just trash hanging on the wall once you die unless your grandpa shot it then it’s ok.

I’m on like my seventh bag of popcorn on this one.
so when i'm a grandpa one day the trash on my walls will then be ok?

I have some magazines from the 80s that gripe about the same exact thing back when folks were paying $300-500 for a lease. In the same breath I have known a whole lot of normal working fellas on leases too so it is seemingly a tired overstated phrase.

The perception of society is changing as a whole imo, and we aren't at least partly to blame.
Nobody's perfect for sure, but I think it's getting pretty silly.

The focus isn't driven towards understanding the animals, the outdoors, the environment, etc..the majority of the focus is on the cheats & shortcuts.
I don't know, maybe I'm just sentimental and don't adjust well
To me a hunter is anybody that kills an animal for food, whether he picks his specific quarry because he likes it’s antlers/horns or because it just looks like a tasty one, it’s none of my business as long as he is eating it. If one wants to be a successful hunter more often than not and not just be lucky, then yes they should be proficient at more than just shooting straight. As far as societies perception... they can suck it I could care less what society thinks of me or hunting because I dance to my own tune, I don’t need it’s approval for how or why I hunt. Too many people are worried about what others think about or do that has no real affect on them or anyone else. I’ve read way too many excuses on here about how this, that, or they ruined hunting for me. Hunting is what you make it not dependent on how others do it. If that stuff dictates how they feel about hunting they didn’t care about it as much as they say or thought. Do I agree with all technology, or going on expensive guided trips, or high fences, etc? Heck no, but I don’t care if that’s what others like because that’s just their preference and what they enjoy, so be it, it has no affect on me or anyone else.

As for the second paragraph in the quote: I completely 100% agree. But, once again, that’s somebody’s choice if they want to do it like how me and you prefer or not. That choice isn’t going to keep myself from enjoying hunting any less. The way I look at, means at the end of the day there is less talented hunters in the woods giving me a better chance with good old fashioned boots on the ground, experience, and research. I say let everybody focus on the cheats and shortcuts haha. Glass half full or half empty depends which way you want to look at it.
