Def talk to these guys. https://www.huntingnewmexico.com/
Try and draw a tag first in the outfitter pool then if you don't draw go the landowner tag route would be my advice.

was it draw or private tags?

New Mexico Landowner tags have Ranch Only or Unit Wide designations. I'd make sure and find out which one you are buying.

I can put you in touch. My cousin has a ranch right outside angel fire.

LOH Outfitters , my guide grew up in Unit 17 and he is awesome his name is Brendon Rosales. He put me on numerous different bulls in 5 days and I ended up taking a 308".

I had a Unit 15 unit-wide landowner tag this year. Very cool experience hunting both public and private ground. Most satisfying no-kill hunt I've ever been on. Big moon during 2nd archery season. Despite the dry year, there was a big monsoon season and quality bulls were abundant. Trophy Ridge Outfitters, multi-generational, locally owned.

17 is a primitive weapon unit only for adults.

LO TAGS are typically 7.5k to 9.5 k.

I've hunted that unit a bunch in Jan. Good unit upper end price use for but what you get. IMO

If you can get in under 8k its a good deal

Don't do it. Just finished my 5th and last trip there. Not what it used to be.
