    Mulched land???

My question is what do you do after mulching? I assume the brush, mesquite and other stuff, will sprout from the roots and grow back if we don't do something about it. My daughter just had about 7 acres mulched and I need a plan. All she has is a shredder.

Yes, you just made everything mad. Spray it in the spring when it starts sprouting good

I have roads and right of ways mulched and that enables me to shred growth. I am overgrown with yaupons and I also use a disc to keep the new growth down. Have a new guy leasing one of my pastures and we plan on doing some heavy spraying, can’t remember what we used on the other pastures, but will find out and let you know.

In the spring, if mesquite, wait for the new leaves to go from light green to darker green. Then spray with Sendero making sure to use a surfactant. I use 2oz per gallon of water when spot spraying my pastures. Chemical control of brush is a proven cheaper alternative to mechanical control i.e. mulchers and shredders. Bigger, mature mesquites and huisache spray the base of the tree with 50/50 diesel and remedy.

It depends on what you just mulched. Get some recommendations from your local USDA/ Farm service office.

My ranch is in SW Edwards County and we have briar patches that are becoming a problem. Is there any chemical that will kill them. I don't know the proper name for them but they are like velcro and anything will stick to them, cloth, leather, skin! The place is so rocky a mulcher won't work. Any advice?

I waited a couple years then pushed all the dead stuff in piles after it was shriveled up
                  It got buried and burned

Don't spray this spring, not enough leaf area to take in the chemical to kill a mature root system. Give it a couple growing seasons so that you have enough leaves.

I keep it clean with Remedy and surfactant. I leave the mulch down also for erosion control and further inhibition of plant growth.
Yaupon is my enemy so you may want to check with you ag ext. for your flora.

You can disc the rotten mulch into the ground to improve the top soil.
