First pic was my Oct 3rd and Second pic was after rutting hard and not showing up for over a month. Second pic was from yesterday. Just shows you how aging a buck can change depending on part of the season after being warn down.

I saw a buck this morning that I’ve been watching on camera since August, and I would estimate he’s lost a third of his body weight.

Thats crazy, I've never seen them lose that much the opposite direction in such a short time.

Yep, those deer are in peak shape in October and spend the rest of the year building up for the next rut. It is incredible how much the shed in weight.

Not sure about all that. The bottom picture is not of a deer that has been rutting hard. His hocks aren't ****** up, neck isn't swollen, no baggy skin etc.

I have a similar set of photos from last year 23 days apart. Camera time and dates are correct.

Its amazing what their bodies can handle during that time of year
