    Taxidermy America

Does any one know what happened to Taxidermy American in Pinehurst? Their phone number is disconnected and the shop is now another business. They have two deer from the ranch last year (a 175" and 190's") that we are trying to track down.

No help here, but that seems to be a recurring theme amongst taxidermists. If you have to fold, what’s hard about calling the customer and levelling with them ? Unless of course, you’ve already blown the money.

I have nothing to offer but future advice for anyone reading this.

The one time I lost an item was a super thick buff colored fallow deer hide. The taxidermist developed kidney or liver disease and died. His family had no idea where my hide went. My tip for the future - prior to leaving anything with any taxi, ask how they tag the item to ensure you will get it back. How do they keep track of things and if they were to die in a car accident, how would you get your items back?

Make sure they are insured and bonded, too, incase there is a fire or flood.

I'm sure Texas Taxi can offer advice, too.

My younger brother just got a bobcat back after 4 years. The taxi almost died like 3 times. Not the best cat but he felt bad. Seems like that stuff happens often

That sucks OP. Doesn't help your current issue but next time use Texastaxi, we know where he lives.

Nowadays this is some good advice. My wife died from covid within a 3 week period this last summer. I am a taxidermist and work alone at the shop at my house. This was an eye opener. I went over my tagging and record system with my daughter and also with my son. In case something happens to me they can get hold of clients and work it out with them.

duckhunter1 good luck with your hunt and hopefully they'll will make it right with you!

Game Warden says it is a civil issue. I have tracked down his new information. We will see where this goes next.
