5th Wheel On Jack Stands For Tire Replacement

Has anyone put their 5th wheel on jack stands, then taken the tires to get replaced? I don't feel comfortable towing my 5th wheel on its current set. Just wondering if that would be a safe way to get all 4 tires replaced at the same time.

5th wheel weight is at 11k

There's a YouTube video on this exact subject where they tested jackstands in a hydraulic press until failure.

Assuming stands are rated for the weight my concern would be the s tress on the front Jack's from shifting. If you could have 2 trucks there I would hook it to my truck first.

Just thinking about my jack stands, they are 3000 lbs each. That would be a pucker for sure. Anyway you could do one axle at at time? If jack stands on one axle fails, it wouldn't hit the ground.

Depends on how many jack stands

4 or more should be safe

or use 2 and do one side at a time

Jack it up on one side, change tires, and jack up other side. That is the way Discount Tires change them out. HDIK

15 bucks worth of concrete blocks, and they will come in handy later.

If you mean cinder blocks, ive seen people put them under their stabilzers and heard watched them shatter under 12K lbs of weight.

What i have done, because my stands are only like 2-3K rated, is stack 4x4s or railroad ties under the frame rails.

This. If you trailer is 12k, two 3,000lb jack-stands per side will be more than enough.

Solid blocks not cinder blocks .

I did that exact thing with no issue. Jack stands combined for a weight rating more than the trailer weight plus landing gear and stabilizer jacks.
